Background
Several years ago on a visit to my brother Lee's home in Oregon, we gathered in the kitchen chatting and cooking dinner. I noticed that my niece Tanya used a wooden gadget to withdraw the hot oven rack. I asked her what it was. She showed me. "Uncle Earl gave it to us." Her late uncle Earl called it the Oven Buddy. I wanted one but no one knew whether it was sold anywhere. My search led me from store after store. I found nothing. I decided that there just might be a market for it. I played with several designs and came to the conclusion that this was the most utilitarian yet it had a touch of elegance.
